The purpose of this web site is to educate patients about Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE), a nonsurgical alternative treatment for symptomatic uterine fibroid tumors. Fibroids (leiomyomas) are benign tumors made of muscle tissue that grow in the uterus and are very common in women of child bearing age. Fibroids occur in one-third of all women and can cause significant symptoms such as heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain, pelvic pressure, frequent urination, back pain, constipation and infertility. Traditional treatment options include hysterectomy (surgical removal of the uterus) and myomectomy (surgical removal of only the fibroids). There are also multiple newer, less invasive treatment options available for fibroids including UFE, MRgFUS, laparoscopic surgery, hysteroscopic surgery and robotic surgery. No single treatment option is best for every fibroid patient. Determining the best treatment option for any given patient should take into account multiple factors including the size, number, location and blood supply to the fibroids, the patient's age, desire for future fertility and other medical problems (if any).

Testimonials
Dr. Fischer is an outstanding doctor. Not only is he proficient in his skills, but also his bedside manner shows he really cares, and you are not "just another patient". His PA Mindy is also wonderful. So glad I found them!

I was wheeled into your area that day very worried and anxious. You immediately put me at ease. And later you came to the room to visit. I can't tell you what that meant to me. I have been in the hospital before, but I have never met a doctor who cared as much about his patients. You were terrific!

Thank you so much for everything!! You really went that extra mile ("marathon"} in getting approval for my procedure and I want you to know that I appreciate your dedication and efforts. I feel like a new person and my energy level has tripled!
